For the Dough:
- 2 cups warm milk (110°F)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4–5 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy, indicating the yeast is activated. Then add the melted butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour, starting with 4 cups and adding more as needed, until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened unsalted butter with the minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mixture is well combined and fragrant.
- Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 12 inches by 18 inches. Spread the garlic butter filling evenly over the surface of the dough. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Cut the log into 12 equal slices to form individual rolls.
- Final Rise and Bake: Place the rolls cut side up in a greased baking pan, leaving a little space between each roll. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes until puffed. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown on top and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for the best flavor and softness.
Notes
- You can add extra garlic or parsley in the filling to adjust the flavor strength to your liking.
- If you do not have fresh parsley, dried parsley can be used but reduce the quantity slightly.
- Make sure the milk is not too hot to avoid killing the yeast; 110°F is the perfect temperature.
- For softer rolls, brush the tops with melted butter immediately after baking.
- These rolls freeze well; wrap them tightly in foil and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw and warm before serving.
