Nut and Date Energy Roll Recipe

Introduction

Date Rolls are a delicious and healthy treat made with a mix of nuts, seeds, and naturally sweet dates. They are easy to prepare, require no baking, and make a perfect snack or dessert for any time of day.

A long, cylindrical dessert log sits on a white marbled surface, rich brown in color with visible chunks of white nuts, dark pieces, and green bits spread throughout the dense texture. Two round slices cut from the log lay in front, showing the same mixed texture inside. To the left behind the log, there is a white bowl filled with dark brown dates, and to the right, a white plate edged with blue concentric stripes holds another slice of the dessert on a dark blue and white striped cloth beneath it. Part of a shiny, silver cup with intricate cut-out patterns is seen behind the log. photo taken with an iphone --ar 4:5 --v 7

Tips & Variations

  • For a vegan option, use coconut oil instead of butter or ghee.
  • You can substitute any nuts based on preference or availability, such as pecans or macadamia nuts.
  • Add a pinch of sea salt for a sweet-salty flavor contrast.
  • Roll the log in finely chopped nuts or shredded coconut for added texture.

Storage

Store the date roll in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. If you prefer a firmer texture, keep it chilled before slicing. To serve, you can let the slices sit at room temperature for a few minutes for a softer bite.

FAQs

Can I use fresh dates instead of dried pitted dates?

Dried pitted dates are best for this recipe as they create the right sticky texture needed to bind the mixture. Fresh dates have higher moisture content and may not hold together as well.

Can I make these date rolls ahead of time?

Yes, date rolls can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator. They actually become easier to slice and taste better after chilling.
